Disney Pixar’s Coco Is So So Good! Review #PixarCocoEvent

Pixar Coco imageI knew when I was invited to the exclusive screening of Disney Pixar’s Coco that the film would be good. What I didn’t know is that it would have a great impact on both film and families. The film has been described by some as a love letter to Mexican families who have been under such scrutiny in recent days. One of the film’s stars Alanna Ubach who voices Mama Imelda described it as “a modern cultural masterpiece”.

I would describe it as an invitation into a colorful world where you will find a common connection that we all have; family. The film is the perfect family film that will make you hold your own family a little tighter when you walk out. But it’s not just a message movie it is a movie that will have you taping your toes and laughing aloud.

Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

The great, great rescue clip takes you into Miguel’s world.

One of my favorite things about going to the theater to see Disney Pixar’s Coco is a serious holiday bonus. Christmas has come early for all of us and leading into Coco you will see Walt Disney Animation Studios animated featurette Olaf’s Frozen Adventure!

Now admittedly I am an Olaf fanatic but this short was great. My daughter couldn’t stop talking about her favorite moments from the short film. You will not be able to let it go over the holidays and beyond as kids will want to watch it over and over again.

Here is a hilarious clip from the film.

You will get a double header of goodness this holiday with Disney Pixar’s Coco and Walt Disney Animation Studios Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. See you at the movies on November 22.
